How to View Archived Emails in Gmail Mobile App

The Gmail mobile app hides All Mail even more aggressively than desktop. Here's how to find archived messages in the Gmail app on your phone.

For iPhone and Android:

• Open the Gmail app
• Tap the hamburger menu (three lines) on the top left
• Scroll down past your labels on the left hand side
• Tap "All Mail" and your complete email history will appear.

This is the simplest way to access archived Gmail on mobile. The search method works the same way, tap the search icon and use the same operators: -in:inbox -in:spam -in:trash

Quick tip: If you archive an email in the Gmail app by mistake, shake your phone right away. Gmail might offer an undo option if you're fast enough.

How to Unarchive Emails and Move Them Back

On Desktop:

• Open the archived email
• Click the "Move to Inbox" button (looks like an inbox icon with an arrow)

You can also select the emails you want to move, then click the "Move to Inbox" icon in the toolbar.

• Open the archived email
• Tap the three dots menu on the top right
• Tap "Move to Inbox". The email reappears in your inbox right away. All your labels, attachments, and thread history stay intact.
